Abstract
Objective To discuss the efficacy and safety of Prolene frontalis suspension for severe congenital blepharoptosis. Methods Retrospective study. Five males patients (8 eyes)and four females patients (7 eyes)with severe congenital blepharoptosis were enrolled to treat with Prolene frontalis suspension from Jan.2013 to Dec.2014. There were 3 unilateral and 6 bilateral cases with age ranging from 3~12 (average 5.8±2.64 years old). All patients were followed up for more than 12 months , especially on the 1th week, the 1th month post-operation and every 6 months afterwards. Results 8 patients had good effect (14 eyes ,account for 93.3 %)at the 1th week. 1 patient's result was acceptable (unilateral,6.6 %).There was no obvious complication. After 12 months, 1 case in good results group became undercorrected. After the time point of 6 months, there was not a case developing exposal keratitis , and logophathalmos were less than 2 mm in all patients , although lid-lag phenomenon was seen in most cases. Conclusion Prolene Frontalis Suspension can correct severe congenital blepharoptosis effectively and safely.关键词
