摘要

Abstract

To provide information on the safety of the compound Chinese Herbal Medicine, its sub-acute toxicity in Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is evaluated. Tilapia were fed with 0% (control group), 1%, 3%, 5% compound Chinese Herbal Medicine supplemented feed for a month. At the end of the experiment, the growth status and the feed utilization of the fish were calculated, and the blood biochemical indexes was detected. The pathological changes in liver, head kidney, body kidney and spleen as well were observed. The results showed that the weight gain rate of tilapia increased with the increase of the dosage of the compound Chinese Herbal Medicine, and the feed coefficient decreased with the increase of dosage (P<0.05). The levels of Aspartate transaminase (AST) , Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), Total protein (TP), Albumin (ALB), Creatinine (Cr), Urea nitrogen (BUN) had no significant difference with the control group (P>0.05).However, the Triacylglyceride (TG) of the 5%group was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). There were no significant histological changes in the liver, spleen, head kidney and kidney. The results in this study suggest that it is safe and feasible to use 1% and 3% compound Chinese herbal medicine in tilapia culture.
