Abstract

Mudstone excess pressure is calculated by equivalent-depth method to identify the relationship between mudstone excess pressure and natural gas enrichment.The relationship between mudstone excess pressure and spatial distribution of gas-bearing reservoirs is analyzed in the Upper Paleozoic tight sandstone gas reservoir of Ordos Basin.Research shows that the Upper Paleozoic mudstone strata in Ordos Basin are mainly featured by undercompaction and there are 3 categories of single-well excess pressure curves, namely single-peak, multi-peak and non-peak categories.Shiqianfeng-Shanxi Formation is identified as a complete compartment system with abnormal pressure.The maximum mudstone excess pressure often appears in Shiqianfeng-Upper Shihezi Formation, which blocks the upward migration of hydrocarbon.Gas-bearing reservoirs mainly develop in the lower Shihezi-Shanxi Formation.Natural gas enrichment is dependent on the stability and continuity of pressure compartment.Comparing with the pressure compartments in the southern part of basin, the pressure compartments in the northern and central parts are characterized by stable distribution, better continuity, favorable gas production test and relatively high gas enrichment.This strong correlation between mudstone excess pressure and natural gas enrichment in tight sandstone gas reservoir can be used to explore favorable zones, which could provide certain geological reference for next further exploration.
