The Impact of Executives' Functional Background and Product Idea on Small Business Performance

Abstract
Product idea is crucial to enterprises' innovation.Based on 1205 small business samples,this study attempts to explore the impact of executives' functional background,their product idea and the matching between the two on firm performance.The empirical results show that the intra-firm product idea has a positive impact on firm performance.In addition,executives' production engaging background and government working experience also show a positive impact on firm performance.Furthermore,a matching between government working experience and the intra-firm idea can improve firm performance.The study suggests executives to predict and appraise firm performance during the early phase of a product idea.关键词
