摘要

Abstract

Traditional S-MAC protocol adopted the consistent negotiation of sleep scheduling mechanism,forming virtual clusters in the network and introducing the adaptive listening at the same time,but it limited the network throughput due to the introduction of large sleep,leading to the network overhead and the longer end-to-end transmission delay.To solve this problem,a cross-layer MAC protocol based on event driven-EDC-MAC protocol was proposed.Protocol used the method of cross-layer optimization,both taking the network layer and MAC layer into account,and the network was divided into nonevent status and event status relying on the characteristics of network data transmission.It could save energy effectively and reduce the event reporting delay.Adopting the method of clustering,nodes in the event area clustered dynamically when a node was activated into the event status,and it would reduce the overhead of data transmission energy effectively.The theoretical analysis and simulation showed that the EDC-MAC protocol can averagely reduce the delay time nearly 35% in the case of the same number of sensing nodes and improve the network surplus energy nearly 10% related to S-MAC protocol.
