Effect of PAC Dosage on Removal of Organic Matter and Molecular Weight Distribution in Raw Water

Abstract
Powdered activated carbon was used to pretreat the Xijiu River water in Yixing City.The effects of different PAC dosages on dissolved organic carbon (DOC),UV254 and SUVA were investigated.The results indicated that the removal rate of DOC,UV254 and SUVA were all increased as the PAC dosage increased.When PAC dosage was not exceeding 30 mg/L,natural organic matter (NOM) with small molecular weight were preferably adsorbed by PAC.Once the dosage was above 80 mg/L,PAC mainly absorbed macromolecular NOM that the molecular weight was above 10 k.In addition,the removal rate of NOM,which with molecular weight ranges from 3k~10k,also increased with the PAC dosage increased.关键词
