Abstract
Objective To observe the short-tenn clinical effect of percutaneous vertebroplasty combined with alendronate sodium in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures in elderly patients.Methods 43 patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures were enrolled,randomly divided into control group (n=23) and study group (n=23) after the percutaneous vertebroplasty were performed under C-arm X-ray monitoring.The control group only treated with Calcium and vitamin D3,the study group were given percutaneous vertebroplasty combined with alendronate sodium based on the treatment of Calcium and vitamin D3,the treatment course is 12 months.Two groups of patients before and after treatment BMD (bone mineral density,BMD) changes in different time points were observed.The serum osteoprotegerin (OPG) were detected by ELISA essay.The pain intensity and activities were assessed by visual analogue scale (VAS) score and Oswestry disability index (ODI),respectively.Meanwhile,the fracture vertebral body height and Cobb angle change were analyzed objectively.Results All of patient were accepted successfully the percutaneous vertebroplasty and then returned ward after operation.All cases have a plan for a follow up visit and the follow-up time was 13 to 21 months,average 16.7 months.Compared with the treatment ofpercutaneous vertebroplasty has been performed before,the BMD and OPG were increased in the study group after operation of 3,6,12 months (P＜0.05);Afterthe treatment ofalendronate sodium,the VAS and ODI scores in study group were significantly lower than the control group and the subsequent different followup time points VAS and ODI scores could remain effectively (P＜0.05).Compared with the treatment ofpercutaneous vertebroplasty has been performed before,all of patient of postoperative anterior vertebral height and middle height are better than the preoperative (P＜0.05).And after the therapy were accomplished with 3 months,the anterior vertebral height and middle height in the study group are higher than the control group (P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the study group of Cobb is significantly decreased (P＜0.05).Conclusion The therapy method ofpereutaneous vertebroplasty combined with alendronate sodium has a good effect in osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures in elderly patients,it can increase vertebral bone density and then prevent bone destruction,its advantages include treating osteoporosis and preventing osteoporotic fracture from happening again.It is suitable for clinical application.关键词
