Corrosion inhibition effect of special brass alloy on N80 steel pipes in gas-field produced water

Abstract
With the continuous development of a gas field,composite water cut increases consistently and the salinity of produced water increases significantly.Meanwhile,a large number of corrosive substances are produced,such as CO2,H2S and C1-,and they might lead to failures of tubing and casing,threatening the operation safety.In this paper,the corrosion inhibition effect of special brass alloy on a N80 steel pipe in gas-field produced water was analyzed by means of an electrochemical testing system,scanning electrochemical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and other techniques to develop a new alloy material which can prevent and alleviate gas pipe corrosion.Then,the corrosion inhibition effect of special brass on the N80 steel pipe under different heat treatment conditions was investigated.It is indicated that,when the gas-field produced water is treated with special brass alloy,the self-corrosion potential of the N80 steel pipe increases from-0.82 V to-0.59 V and the self-corrosion current drops to 2.78× 10-6 A/cm2.Moreover,after the pipe is corroded by the produced water which is treated with special brass alloy in the state of solution and aging,its Ret is higher,indicating its better corrosion inhibition on the N80 steel pipe.Besides,if the N80 steel pipe is corroded by the produced water without special brass alloy,the current of hydrogen evolution at its surface is higher and the activity zones are relatively concentrated.If the N80 steel pipe is corroded by the produced water which is treated with special brass alloy in the state of solution and aging,its surface is less corroded and there are fewer activity zones and corrosion products.It is revealed that by virtue of special brass alloy,the corrosion to N80 steel pipes is effectively alleviated.The research result provides the evidence that alloy materials can be used to prevent or alleviate steel pipe corrosion effectively.关键词
