Natural Enemy Functional Guilds of Rice Leaf Folder (Cnaphalocrocis mendinalis) Enhanced in Paddy Field with Sustainable Pest Management by Ecological Engineering

Abstract
With the increasing development of ecological control technologies of rice diseases and insect pests,a great progress has been made in sustainable management of rice insect pests by ecological engineering.This study investigated the spatiotemporal dynamics of natural enemy functional guilds of the rice leaf folder in successive 5 years in fields where ecological engineering technology was applied.The arthropod natural enemies were systematically sampled by sweep net in 2009,2011 and 2013,respectively.Natural enemies were identified to species where it was possible,and were classified into 9 natural enemy functional guilds (Odonata,Hemiptera,Coleoptera,Tetragnathidae,spiders,egg parasitoids,larva parasitoids,pupa parasitoids and Tachina fly).The results showed that the populations of functional guilds of predatory Odonata and Tetragnathidae as well as the larva parasitoids in the rice fields with ecological engineering technologies were significantly higher (1.63-8.94,0-3.69,1.20-2.47 times,respectively) than those in the farmer fields with traditional pest control technology,and the populations were increasing year by year or maintained at a high level.All the results reveal that the application of ecological engineering technology to control rice pests can effectively improve the population size of the functional guilds of the rice leaf folder's natural enemies,which is of great significance in reducing use of chemical pesticides and improve biological control by arthropod natural enemies in the middle and late stage of rice season.关键词
