Effect of Acupuncture at Guanyuan (CV4) with Different Needle Sensations on Menopausal Syndrome

Abstract
Objective:To objectively evaluate the effect of acupuncture at Guanyuan (CV4) with different needle sensations on menopausal syndrome.Methods:Sixty patients enrolled were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group.Patients in two groups were treated with acupuncture at Guanyuan (CV 4) and other points based on syndrome differentiation and different symptoms for 3 months,twice each week,30 min each time.Patients of the treatment group received needle sensation at perineal region when puncturing at Guanyuan (CV4),while induce local needle sensation just around lower abdomen in the control group.Scores of Kupperman indexes before and after treatment were investigated.Results:Acupuncture at Guanyuan (CV4) could significantly decrease the score of Kupperman indexes,improve urinary tract symptoms,vasomotorial symptoms,physical symptoms and mental symptoms in patients with menopausal syndrome.The therapy in the treatment group was more effective for decreasing scores of Kupperman indexes,urinary tract symptoms and vasomotorial symptoms than that in the control group (P ＜ 0.05).There was no significant difference between two groups according to the improvement of physical and mental symptoms(P ＞ 0.05).The increase of serum E2 was more obvious in the treatment group (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion:Acupuncture at Guanyuan (CV4) with inducing needle sensation at perineal region is more effective than inducing local needle sensation just around lower abdomen for the treatment of menopausal syndrome.关键词
