Abstract

Shale reservoir is characterized by low porosity and low permeability.The existence and development of fractures in shale are key factors for the formation of quality reservoir.It is very important to detect and study fracture development zones in shale in order to locate the gas and oil pools.Discrete frequency coherence cubes can be used to fulfill the purpose.Firstly,the original seismic data are processed by spectral decomposition,followed by the calculation of coherence cubes of single-band seismic data.Then,single-band coherence cubes of selected dominant bands are reconstructed by using principal component analysis.Finally,the reconstructed discrete frequency coherence cube can be used to predict the development of fracture zones.It shows that coherence cubes at different frequency bands reflect features of fractures of different scales,and the reconstructed discrete frequency coherence cube interpret the integral features of fractures of different scales in an interest area.Discrete frequency coherence technique plays a role in the fulfillment of accurate description of fracture development zones in shale.
