Numerical Simulation and Analysis of LWD Azimuthal Sonic Transmitter's Performance

Abstract
As the core component of LWD azimuthal tool, the radiation directivity of transducer can directly influence the detected velocity accuracy.An arcuate transducer is studied for LWD azimuthal sonic logging.We used finite element method to simulate its radiation characteristics, and the influences of collar and transmitter's size are investigated.Our analysis results show that resonant frequency of arcuate transducer decreased with increasing angle or height.The collar and the open angle of transducer is an important factor affecting LWD azimuthal directivity, but the collar or angle of transducer decreasing made azimuthal resolution obviously improved.It provides theoretical basis for the LWD azimuthal transducer design.关键词
