Abstract

Single-well imaging technique shows a good prospect in the applications for exploration of unconventional resources.However, in order to image discontinuities, the weak reflections in sonic waveforms need to be enhanced while the large-amplitude direct arrivals need to be suppressed.The wave separation method for the single-well imaging technique is optimized, under the prerequisite conditions without changing the apparatus and the measurement mode.The dispersive characteristics of the mode waves are proposed to be considered during the filtering processing, and the slowness-time semblance method is introduced for a more accurate estimation of the borehole direct waves.As a result, the parametric prediction filtering method widely used in the SWI technique is improved.Application of the improved method to field data processing enhances the efficiency of the reflection extraction.
