Abstract

The jet form under ultimate gun loaded condition in wellbore between 3 1/2 in equal hole (EH) shaped charge and conventional DP charge was compared with the numerical simulation method, and the stability of entry hole diameter of two types of the charges was compared by ground numerical testing.The numerical simulation results show that the liner of the former charge produced a length of high speed rod-shaped jet that was not easily affected by explosion height relative to the later which produced spindly taper jet from the head and big slug from the end during penetrating in steel target.The ground numerical testing results show that the average entry hole diameter on casing of the former charge was 12.3 mm and the compatibility reached to 96.7%, the average entry hole diameter improved 2.3 mm and compatibility improved by 20.4%, which proved that the EH charge has bigger entry hole diameter and better compatibility and the numerical simulation is accurate.The average penetration of 3 1/2 in EH charge in concrete target was 755 mm, which show the deep penetration of charge.
