Abstract

In order to study the influence of contacting state between base and surface layers of asphalt pavement on its distortion energy, the typical asphalt pavement with semi-rigid base was taken as the research object. ABAQUS finite element software was used to establish the asphalt pavement structure with semi-rigid base 3-D model, and the influence of different contacting states between layers of pavement structure on the shear stress and maximum distortion energy was analyzed under different vertical and horizontal forces. The results show that there exists a certain relationship between the interlaminar shear stress and the horizontal force, and the increase of the horizontal force can lead to the significantly increase of interlaminar shear stress. The contacting state between surface layers and base has a certain influence on interlaminar shear stress. Under the same condition, the interlaminar shear stress and the maximum distortion energy corresponding to completely smooth interlayer or semi-continuous state are larger than those of complete continuous state. Along with the increase of the shear stress between the inner surface pavement structure, distortion can also increases accordingly, thus reducing the semi-rigid asphalt surface durability and reliability.
