Abstract

Based on site tests of two reinforced retaining wall sections of Anhua-Shaoyang expressway at k128+675 and k128+685, the working performance and stress deformation characteristics of set-back gabion box reinforced retaining wall with coal gangue used as filling materials were studied. The horizontal soil pressure, lateral deformation, vertical soil pressure and material strain distribution of the reinforced retaining wall were analyzed. The analysis results show that the lateral earth pressure on the back of the wall increases linearly with the height of fill and the rate of increase rises after filling soil in front of the wall; the vertical soil pressure follows non-uniform distribution in the back of the wall, the peak in 0.35 times of the gabion from metope; reinforcement material strain distribution in the middle is large and the side is small along direction of reinforced material laying; the strain is large from 2.8-4.2 m segment in wall back; retaining wall front backfill can restrict lateral displacement and prevent wall drum belly effectively during construction. The results provide reference to similar coal gangue filling reinforced retaining walls.
