摘要

Abstract

Solution immersion test was performed to simulate aging process of silicone rubber under different environmental conditions and change law of surface hydrophobicity with time of acid or alkali solution immersion was systematically investigated. It was discovered strong acid environment would cause remarkable declination of surface contact angle of the silicone rubber and nitric acid had stronger aging effect than other acid substances. While in alkaline environment, when pH value was over 12, the silicone rubber would be aged. The mechanism of acid and alkali aging was also discussed and it was found the main chain Si-O bond was destroyed due to attack of hydrogen ions or hydroxyl ions and then generated silanol. In addition, strong alkali might react with fortifier white carbon black to generate void, which could promote diffusion of water.
