Synthesis and Stabilization of Cubic Leucite

Abstract
The cubic leucite stabilized at room temperature was synthesized by a solid-state reaction method. The effects of amount of Cs2O, heat treatment temperature and soaking time on the formation and stability of cubic leucite were investigated. The microstructure of leucite was determined by scanning electron microscopy. The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the synthesized cubic leucite was measured by a thermal dilatometric analyzer. The results show that when a proper amount of CsNO3 is added into the chemical composition of leucite and heat treated for a certain time, cubic leucite can be stabilized at room temperature after a part of K2O is replaced by Cs2O. The average CTE of the stabilized cubic leucite samples at 30–700 ℃ is about 17.3×10–6/℃, which is apparently lower than that of the tetragonal leucite.关键词
