摘要

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of supplementation of iron oxides on the biomethanation of food waste at different food waste to inoculum ratios (FW/I =1,3,and 5).Results show that adding iron oxides to anaerobic digestion of food waste when FW/I =1 enhances methanogenesis to a limited degree.Supplementation of iron oxides played an active role in preventing process failure at FW/I values of 3 and 5.However,microbial activity became more complicated following provision of iron oxides to anaerobic digestion of food waste.The results indicate that adding iron oxides to anaerobic digestion of food waste results in high efficiency through increasing the organic loading rate (OLR).
