摘要

Abstract

Coastal erosion has become one of the most important disasters on sandy coast in the world.Many countries are committed to beach protection,and Netherlands has made a lot of at-tempts due to its low-lying.In 2011,an innovative beach nourishment,Sand Motor,was implemen-ted with 21.5 Mm3 sands in Delfland coast,Netherlands.Monitoring morphology results of August 2015 showed that monitoring results were coincided with model results,and the rate of sand losing in monitoring area was less than expected.In periodical evaluation report of 2016,it was confirmed that wave and current transport sands from Sand Motor to nearby beaches to stabilize the coast,increase space for leisure and nature and improve coastal management.Compared to reg-ular nourishment,Sand Motor has the advantages of significant protection effect,cost-effective, long life span and increase coastal area.It is valuable for China to learn from Sand Motor.
