摘要

Abstract

A method for calculating floc size was proposed based on the analysis of relationship between different forces and floc shape parameters.Images of sediments from two different sources were analyzed to determine the size of flocs using the developed method and a traditional method while a comparison was conducted between these two methods.Research results show that results obtained by the proposed method are more in accord with the observed settling velocity and also have a significant increase in precision.The range of increase when calculating irregular flocs is greater than average.In addition, this method has a better performance on small flocs than larger ones.
