Effect of filler material on arc-trigger characteristic

Abstract
Effects of silica sand and sodium silicate sand on temperature-rise and pre-arcing characteristics of an arc-trigger which rated currnet is 2 kA was studied respectively by simulation modeling based on the platform of ANSYS.Simulation results show that filler material is not obvious in affecting temperature-rise characteristic but the pre-arcing time and Joule-integral would be extended, and silica sand has shorter pre-arcing time compared with sodium silicate sand.Arc-trigger with different filler material were manufactured for temperature-rise and pre-arcing tests and the experimental results are in good agreement with simulation results, arc-trigger with silica sand is about 21.1% lower than that with sodium silicate sand in pre-arcing Joule-integral, indicating that the arc-trigger with silica sand has better performance in fault current detection.关键词
