Abstract

The single cropping of cassava with equal row spacing (0.8 m)or wide and narrow row spacing (1.0 m+0.6 m) was taken as the control,the effects of equal-row-spacing and wide/narrow-row-spacing cassava-peanut intercropping on the growth,quality and yield of cassava were studied under the field condition. The results showed that there were no great differences in the growth,quality and yield of cassava between two single cropping modes. In comparison with the single cropping of cassava, the cassava-peanut intercropping greatly inhibited the growth,quality and yield of cassava. As compared with the equal-row-spacing cassava-peanut intercropping,the wide/narrow-row-spacing cassava-peanut intercropping could increase the root-shoot ratio,relative growth rate,group growth rate,leaf area index,dry matter rate and starch content of fresh tuber,and yield of fresh tuber,dry tuber and starch of cassava. The partial land equivalent ratio of cassava in wide/narrow-row-spacing intercropping was slightly higher than that in equal-row-spacing intercropping. The above results indicate that wide/narrow-row-spacing cassava-peanut intercropping is the best.
