Abstract
Objective To understand thecorrelation between transfusion of packed red blood cells(Packed red blood cell,RBC)and the incidence of neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis(Necrotizing enterocolitis,NEC),and to compare the severity and prognosis of transfusion associated NEC and non-transfusion related NEC.Methods A retrospective controlled study of 133 preterm infants with NEC in a single center hospital was conducted. The cases with NEC within 48 hours after blood transfusion were as the study group, while the NEC cases occurred in those without blood transfusion or blood transfusion after 48 hours as the control group. The risk factors, complications, clinical stages, length of stay and prognosis of the two groups were compared. Results Blood transfusion related NEC is smaller in gestational age compared with non-transfusion NEC infants(The average gestational age in the study group was(30.0086±1.92471)weeks,and the average gestational age in the control group was(33.5212±2.24743)weeks,the birth weight was lighter(the average birth weight was(1382.14 + 339.27)g in the study group and the average birth weight was(1928.74±480.715)g in the control group),the clinical stage was more serious(Stage III cases accounted for 50% in the study group,13.45% cases in the control group). And patients usually had a history of asphyxia, patent ductus arteriosus, septicemia, and so on.Conclusion Transfusion related acute intestinal injury is an important mechanism of TR-NEC,blood transfusion is an important risk factor for the onset of NEC,and the relationship between independent and correlation with other risk factors need more animal models and clinical trials to confirm.关键词
