Abstract
Objective To explore the impacts of Ten Major Tonics Decoction on the effects of postoperative chemotherapy for ovarian cancer and to evaluate its safety.Methods A total of 80 patients with advanced ovarian cancer having received surgical treatment in our hospital were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group (n=40,respectively).The control group received cisplatin-paclitaxel conventional chemotherapy,while the observation group additionally took Ten Major Tonics Decoction.The effects,toxic and side effects of chemotherapy and quality of life after chemotherapy between the two groups were compared.Results After chemotherapy,the overall response rate (ORR) in the two groups had no statistical difference (P ＞ 0.05);the incidences of Grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ toxic and side effects of white blood cell,hemoglobin and platelet in hematologic toxicity and nausea and vomiting in gastrointescinal tract effects was significantly lower than those in the control group (P ＜ 0.05);after chemotherapy,the overall scores of the cancer function evaluation system-ovarian cancer subsystem (FACT-O) were much higher than those before the treatment,and the scores in the observation group were much higher than those in the control group (P ＜ 0.05).The living conditions,emotional status,functional status and specific conditions of ovarian were significantly improved,while the social/family status scores decreased greatly (P ＜ 0.05),but the decrease in the observation group was less than that in the control group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Ten Major Tonics Decoction combined with chemotherapy can effectively alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy in patients and improve their quality of life in the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer,and is worthy of clinical popularization and application.关键词
