Abstract
A design of a pulsed discharge cavity for Z-pinch wire-array implosion experiments on basis of the Linear Transformer Driver(LTD) technology is presented. The cavity is consisted of 34 bricks, which are coupled through 4 Matglas toroidal cores. Each brick has two 40 nF capacitors and a gas switch with 4 gaps in series, and the loop inductance is 220 nH. The cavity can generate a 916 kA, 99.8ns pulse to the matched resistance making of water resistors. A magnetically insulated transmission line is designed to transmit the pulse from the LTD cavity to a wire array Z-pinch load. Simulation using the"zero dimension model" is conducted, showing that the pulsed current on the wire array is 960 kA at peak value and 114 ns at rising time.关键词
