Abstract
Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment level for vagal paraganglioma via exploring the clinical characteristics of this tumor.Methods Clinical data of 3 patients with vagal paraganglioma were analyzed retrospectively.The clinical characteristics,differential diagnosis and treatment of the tumor were discussed in combination with review of literatures.Results Vagal paraganglioma was a rare tumor that often appeared as a painless mass in the neck or parapharyngeal space.Preoperative diagnosis in early stage was difficult due to absence of special symptoms such as cough,hoarseness or other neurological symptoms.It was apt to be misdiagnosed as Schwannoma,which affected further treatment.Conclusion CT and MRI are significant in the diagnosis and operation strategy of this tumor.Proper selection of surgical approaches and consummate operation skill are keys for successful surgical treatment and avoidance of serious complications.关键词
