Abstract
Objective To observe the effects of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation combined with trabeculectomy in the treatment of primary angle-closure glaucoma and cataract.Methods 40 patients who were diagnosed with angle-closure glaucoma and cataract (40 eyes) were randomly divided into control and treatment group, each having 20 cases (20 eyes).Control group was given trabeculectomy only and treatment group was given phacoemulsification and IOL implantation along with trabeculectomy.Intraocular pressure (IOP), visual function, and complications were compared in the 6-month follow-up period.Results In control group, IOP was controlled in normal range in 17 cases (17 eyes) after the surgery, and the success rate was 70.00%.In treatment group, 19 cases (19 eyes) showed normal range IOP and the success rate was 95.00%.This difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Visual acuity was greater than 0.5 in 12 cases (60%) in the treatment group and in 5 cases (25%) in control group.The difference was also significant (P<0.05).Complications such as corneal edema, anterior chamber bleeding, postoperative uveitis were low in both groups.Conclusions Phacoemulsification and trabeculectomy is effective and safe treatment for the patients with angle-closure glaucoma and cataract.关键词
