Effect of Online Teaching Platform in Clinical Nursing Practice of Gastroenterology

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of online teaching platform in clinical nursing practice of gastroenterology. Methods An online teaching platform was established based on the professional characteristics of gastroenterology, teaching objectives, and teachers' and students' needs. The participants including 92 nursing undergraduates in clinical practice in Department of Gastroenterology of Union Hospital were divided into experiment group (n=45) and control group (n=47). Traditional teaching method was implemented in control group, while teaching based on online teaching platform was applied in experimental group. The outcomes were evaluated using students' performance in departmental rotation examination, clinical practice and comprehensive ability assessment. In addition, students' self-directed learning ability was measured using the Self-Rating Scale for Self-Directedness in Learning at the end of the practice. Data were analyzed by SPSS 19.0. Measurement data were compared between groups using independent t-test. Results The total score of departmental rotation examination in experiment group 171.36 ±7.14 was significantly higher than that in control group 166.45 ±6.68 (P<0.001). The total core of self-directed learning ability in experiment group 226.87 ±15.94 was significantly higher than that in control group 218.11 ±12.47 (P=0.001). Conclusion Online teaching platform in clinical nursing practice of gastroenterology could effectively improve the quality of nursing teaching and students ' self-directed learning ability.关键词
