Abstract

Objective To explore the demand and job content of urinary continence nurse specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology department, and to provide reference for setting the post of urinary continence nurse specialists. Methods A semi-structured interview was conducted in 26 doctors, nurses and urinary incontinence patients from 3 hospitals in Beijing. Results There was urgent need to set up the post of urinary continence nurse specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology department. The job contents of the post should cover prevention, screening, treatment, rehabilitation, follow-up, scientific research and training of urinary incontinence. Conclusion At present, the practice of urinary continence nurse specialists is still in the initial stage, however, there is great potential demand for it. In the future, it is necessary to form a scientific and standardized job description gradually to guide the clinical practice of urinary incontinence nurse specialists effectively.
