Non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of dynamic ice slurry production by vacuum method

Abstract
Ice slurry treated with sodium chloride was produced by vacuum method. The feasibility of describing the crystallization behaviors of ice slurry based on the non-isothermal crystallization kinetic model, Jeziorny and Mo method, was theoretically proved. The relationships between the crystallization time and the ice packing fraction (IPF) were measured and the non-isothermal crystallization kinetic equations were developed. Experimental results indicated that the non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of ice slurry formation fit the Jeziorny and Mo model very well. The values of the Jeziorny exponentn were between 0.473 and 0.525, indicating that the crystallization mechanisms were almost the same for different experimental conditions and the growth pattern of ice crystals was flake thickening. The change trends of the crystallization kinetic parameters,Kc, the crystallization time,t0.25, and the cooling rate function,F(T), revealed that high cooling rate was beneficial to promote the formation of ice slurry and sodium chloride inhibited the growth of ice crystals.关键词
