Expression of RECK and MMP-2 in epulis and chronic periodontitis gingival tissue

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression level of RECK and MMP-2 in epulis and chronic periodontitis gingival tissue.Methods:Immunohistochemistry was employed to determine the protein level of RECK and MMP-2 in gingival tissues of chronic periodontitis patients and periodontal healthy control individuals along with biopsies of epulis.Results:RECK and MMP-2 expression were detected in all gingival samples.The expression of RECK decreased gradually from healthy controls,epulis to chronic periodontitis lesions,while MMP-2 expression showed an opposite trend(P<0.05).The expression level of RECK was negatively correlated to that of MMP-2(r=-0.732,P<0.05).Conclusion:Enhanced expression of MMP-2 may be associated with low RECK expression in epulis and chronic periodontitis gingival tissues,RECK may contribute to periodontal physiological and pathological process through the regulation of MMPs.关键词
