Electro-acupuncture on T2DM Rats with Points at Different Nerve Segment
摘要
Abstract
Objective:To observe the effect of electro-acupuncture on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) rats with different acupoints,and to provide evidence for clinical acupoint selection for T2DM in acupuncture treatment.Methods:T2DM models were established in rats by high fat and high sugar diet combined with Streptozotocin (STZ) injection,then the rats were randomly divided into the model group,the Xinshu group,the Yishu group,and the Shenshu group.The points of Xinshu,Yishu and Shenshu were stimulated respectively with electro-acupuncture.The fasting blood glucose(FBG),the area under curve(AUC) of OGTT,fasting insulin (FINS),insulin resistance(IR) level,and the morphology of the islets were observed in all groups.Results:①The levels of FBG and AUC decreased significantly in the Yishu group(P ＜0.05),the changes in the Xinshu group and the Shenshu group were not so obvious(P ＞ 0.05).②There is no effect on the level of FINS with electro-acupuncture intervention in rats,and HOMA-IR was remarkably lower in the Yishu group than that in the model group(P ＜ 0.01),but there were no obvious changes both in the Xinshu group and in the Shenshu group(P ＞0.05).③HE staining:In the model group,the atrophy of pancreatic islets was severe,the islet cells decreased with abnormal morphology;whereas in the Yishu group,the shape of the islets,the cellular morphology and the numbers of the cells were all close to those in the blank group.Conclusion:Point of Yishu with electro-acupuncture can reduce blood glucose,improve glucose tolerance and insulin resistance,and it can protect the shape of the islets in T2DM rats;these effects of Yishu point fit in with the nerve segment theory.关键词
