Abstract
Objective To investigate the significance of procalcitonin in the early diagnosis of suppurative meningitis in infants.Methods Seventy-one patients with meningitis who were treated in our hospital from February 2014 to October 2015 were divided into 36 cases of purulent meningitis (observation group B) and 35 cases of viral meningitis viral meningitis (observation group A) according to the clinical diagnosis.At the same time,35 children with non-infectious diseases treated in our hospital were selected as the control group.The serum procalcitonin,C-reactive protein and white blood cell count were detected in the three groups,and the diagnostic value of the three methods was compared.Results The positive rates of procalcitonin and C-reactive protein in the three groups were significantly different (P<0.05).The positive rate of procalcitonin and the rate of C-reactive protein in the observation group B were significantly higher than those in the group A and the control group (P<0.05).The positive rate of procalcitonin was significantly higher than that of C-reactive protein and white blood cell count in the observation group B(P<0.05).The differences in the three groups of children with procalcitonin,C-reactive protein,white blood cell count quantitative test results were statistically significant (P<0.05).The levels of procalcitonin,C-reactive protein and white blood cell count in group B were significantly higher than those in group A and control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Procalcitonin is of high value in early diagnosis of purulent meningitis in infants and children and is worth popularizing.关键词
