Abstract

In view of a large span ultrahigh (tower 328 m) multi-limb cable-stayed bridge proposed to be built in mountainous area,wind tunnel pressure test was carried out through a 1 ∶ 225 scale rigid model to study the change law for the aerodynamic coefficients both of the whole tower and different limb segments with wind yaw angle and wind speed.Results show that multi-limb interference may enhance the Reynolds number effect of aerodynamic coefficient.The drag coefficient increases slowly with the increase of Reynolds number.The change of lift coefficient and torque coefficient is complicated,and shows a sinusoidal function change with Reynolds number at a certain wind yaw angle.The overall aerodynamic coefficient is affected by multi-limb interference.The drag coefficient increases while the lift and torque coefficients decrease.The effect of multi-limb interference will significantly increase the aerodynamic coefficient (the drag coefficient of the local limb segment can be increased by about 2 times at most),which should be fully considered when analyzing the aerodynamic forces of both the overall and local limb segments.The most unfavorable wind yaw angle of drag and lift coefficients caused by the interference effect of limb segment is generally located in the included angle of the overall diagonal of cross section and transverse and longitudinal direction of bridge.When the spacing between two limb segments is small,the change trend is similar to that of single-limb segment,and the maximum drag coefficient appears at the wind yaw angle of 0 degree.
