Abstract

Based on the existing constitutive relation of concrete,the constitutive relation of steel as well as the bond-slip constitutive relationship between steel plate and reinforced concrete (RC) beam,the secant stiffness was introduced.According to the equilibrium condition of the RC beam section strengthened with bonded steel and the deformation coordination condition between steel plate and RC beam,the nonlinear differential equation of RC beam strengthened with bonded expressed by the tension of steel plate was derived.Through introducing displacement boundary condition and continuity condition,the general solution to the differential equation of RC simply supported beam strengthened with bonded steel under double concentrated loads and uniform load was respectively given,and the expression for the coordinative coefficient of RC beam strengthened with bonded steel was given in terms of the tension of steel plate.Comparing the calculated results with the experimental results of 5 different kinds of tested beams with different quantities of bonded steel,concrete strength grades and spans,results show that the two are in good agreement.The main factors affecting the accuracy of the nonlinear analysis method are bond slip stiffness,end anchorage condition of steel plate and loading forms.
