Abstract

The high voltage (HV) component can be a single fault-source accounted for the failure of the whole satellite.A reliable component is of great significance for the operation safety of spacecraft in orbit.The charging and discharging (C&D) process of the HV components will lead to the secondary discharge,therefore it becomes a key factor that constrains the development of the satellites as well as the operation safety.We studied the evaluation methods and the protection techniques for the secondary discharge of high voltage GaAs solar cell arrays(HV GaAs),which is of great value to securing the on-orbit satellite operation safety.In order to study the HV GaAs solar cell array secondary discharge phenomenon of the damage caused by the satellite,gallium arsenide solar cell array through ground simulation of high pressure on-orbit actually charged environment,we resembled the HV GaAs solar cell army in the next electrostatic discharge and the second discharge process,and studied the passive protection methods,different structure size high pressure gallium arsenide solar cell array of charge and discharge performance.Research results show that the local charge imbalance is caused by HV GaAs solar cell array sample and an electrostatic discharge,and three junction GaAs high-pressure solar cell array samples in the absence of the room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber (RTV) under 80 V working voltage triggered secondary discharge events will break down high voltage permanent solar cell array series circuit short circuit.Coated RTV can decrease the high pressure GaAs solar cell array number of an electrostatic discharge generated by discharge and the discharge energy,reducing the generation of secondary discharge.
