Abstract

To overcome the mode mixing problem of the Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) method for analysis of transient power quality signals, a new analyzing method using the HHT improved by harmonic compensation iteration was proposed.The method eliminates the mode mixing by changing the envelope distribution of transient signal, and determines the amplitude and frequency ranges of compensatation harmonic signals according to the characteristic and the frequency range of transient signals.The implementing steps of the method were given, and the verification of the algorithm was conducted.The testing results show that this method can be used to analyze transient power quality signals rapidly and accurately, and it can effectively inhibit mode mixing, improve the decomposition performance.Compared with the HHT method based on standard empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and the HHT method based on ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD), this new method is more accurate, and its decomposition results conform to the actual situation of signals and the physical meaning is clear.
