Reliability and Validity of the Short Version of UPPS-P Impulsive Behavior Scale in College Students

Abstract
Objective:To examine the reliability and validity of the Short Version of UPPS-P Impulsive Behavior Scale in college students.Methods:725 university students were asked to complete the Chinese version of S-UPPS-P and 693 valid questionnaires were collected,and 116 of the students were randomly selected to be retested.The UPPS Impulsive Behavior Scale was chosen as the content validity.Barratt Impulsiveness Scale,McLean Screening Instrument for Borderline Personality Disorder and Aggression Questionnaire were chosen as criterion related validity.Results:The Chinese version of S-UPPS-P consisted of 20 items and exploratory factor analysis yielded five factors:negative urgency,Lack of perseverance,lack of premeditation,sensation seeking and positive urgency;The internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability of the total was 0.77,the internal consistency reliability of the five dimensions were 0.67,0.69,0.71,0.69,0.80,the test-retest reliability were 0.77,0.65,0.63,0.66,0.75,composite reliability were 0.80,0.81,0.85,0.82,0.87;The confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) confirmed the hypothesized five-factor model;The scores of the S-UPPS-P were positively associated with UPPS,BIS-11,MSI-BPD and AQ-CV.Conclusion:The reliability and validity of the revised S-UPPS-P questionnaire is satisfactory,which can be used in the measurement of impulsivity in college students.关键词
