Abstract

Objective:To revise the Child and Adolescent Social Support Scale(CASSS) for Chinese middle school students.Methods:742 middle school students participated in this research and 65 of them were retested 2 weeks later.The Multidimensional Student's Life Satisfaction scale and the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale were used as criteria indicators in this research.Results:Cronbach'set coefficient of CASSS was 0.962,and Cronbach's α coefficients of the five subscales were ranged from 0.868 to 0.949.The test-retest reliability for CASSS was 0.826 and that for the five subscales were ranged from 0.548 to 0.813.The confirmatory factor analysis revealed that CASSS had good construct validity.Perceived social support was positively correlated with life satisfaction and negatively correlated with depression.Conclusion:The CASSS is a acceptable tool with enough reliability and validity to examine social support in Chinese middle school students.
