A Capacitive Energy Recovery Converter for Doubly Salient Permanent Magnet Generator

Abstract
This paper proposes a new converter called capacitive energy recovery converter (CERC) and corresponding control strategy to enhance the power generation capability in doubly salient permanent magnet generator (DSPMG). The CERC is composed of controllable devices, uncontrollable devices and energy storage circuit. The control strategy was developed based on the analysis of the electromagnetic characteristics of DSPMG. With the proposed control strategy, the winding current can be promoted, thus leading to larger electromagnetic torque against the prime mover. As a result, the power generation capability of the DSPMG system with CERC is enhanced compared with that with traditional full-bridge rectifier (FBR). In addition, the torque ripple is relatively smaller. Both simulations and experiments were conducted to verify the validity of the proposed converter and control strategy.关键词
