摘要

Abstract

Creating fracture with high conductivity is the core mission of the hydraulic fracturing process.Proppants are small granules which are pumped into the fractures by fracturing fluid.The injection of proppants helps in keeping the fractures open and ensuring high fracture conductivity in the presence of high confining stresses so that hydrocarbon production from the well bores can be significantly enhanced.In this paper, an overview of the exiting proppants technologies, including the progress of proppants, the basic types of proppants, the characteristics of proppants and advancements in proppants technology which have been developed in recent years is provided.Finally, the paper sheds light on the current challenges and presents further developing trend in this field.
