Abstract
Culture is a state or process of human perfection. Multicultural gathering and blending are the characteristics of cities so that the diversity of the world is concentrated in the diversity of cities. It has become a consensus among global cities that the importance of culture is equivalent to finance and trade. Cities seek harmonious development in the fusion of multiculturalism, and seek continuity of history, culture and space as well. Every nation and every culture shows their richest imagination and the most unique creativity in cities, embodying human's creativity and wisdom. In Shanghai 2040, urban culture is regarded as an essential topic to lead Shanghai becoming an international cultural metropolis with global influence, which needs to reflect the idea of sustainable development and advance with modern concepts. In terms of the conservation of Shanghai's architectural and cultural heritage, there are special institutional and technical problems. On the one hand, we should sum up lessons from history and strive to protect the surviving architectural and cultural heritage. On the other hand, it is necessary to explore mechanism and deliberate technology of protection, and effectively strengthen the awareness of historical and cultural protection.关键词
