Abstract
To investigate the sterols from ginseng,and determine the contents of total sterols in ginsengs of varied regions and ages.The sterols were extracted by petroleum ether using saponification method,silica gel was used to isolate the sterols;total sterols were detected by ultraviolet spectrophotometry.Two kinds of sterols were isolated from ginseng,and identified asβ-Sitosterol and stigrnasterol respectively;the average content of total sterols of five regions was 0.35％ ± 0.10％.β-Sitosterol and stigmasterol were isolated from ginseng,and it is the first time to determine the contents of total sterols of five regions,which provides a scientific basis for the development of ginseng.关键词
