Research on Retinal Hazard of Non-Coherent Optical Irradiation for Medical Equipment

Abstract
Objective To provide theoretical and data support for retinal thermal hazard assessment via analyzing and validating the effects of different parameters which including the measurement distance, pupil diameter and the field of view on retinal thermal hazard physiological effects and measurement. Methods Firstly, according to the physiological structure and physiological characteristics of human eyes, the impact of different measurement conditions on hazard limits and evaluation methods was analyzed. Then, each measurement condition was changed one by one, and the influence of each measurement condition on the retinal radiance was quantitatively evaluated by experimental data. Results The distance of measurement, the diameter of pupil and the angle of field of view had influence on the retinal radiance, and the influence of each parameter on the retinal radiance was qualitatively given because the degree of influence was also related to the uniformity of the light source. Conclusion The thermal hazard assessment of retina is very complex. In the actual measurement process, the experimental scheme should be designed scientifically according to the experimental object, so as to provide the accuracy of the biosafety assessment.关键词
