Objective To investigate the diagnosis, surgical treatment and prognosis of elderly patients with pulmonary tuberculosis complicated with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods Forty elderly cases with pulmonary tuberculosis complicated with NSCLC confirmed by pathological diagnosis were collected in Beijing Chest Hospital, Capital Medical University during January 2002 to June 2012.There were 26 cases of lung cancer and pulmonary tuberculosis in the same lung lobe, 14 cases with different lung lobes. Results Of 40 cases, 15 cases underwent anti-tuberculosis treatment before operation,6 cases underwent anti-tuberculosis treatment after operation according to pathological result.19 cases didn't give anti-tuberculosis treatment due to consider as healed tuberculosis. All patients received surgical treatment, in which a single lobe resection in 25 cases, 5 cases of compound lobectomy, pneumonectomy in 1 case, and 9 cases of wedge resection and segmentectomy. No perioperative death occurred.Postoperative pathological staging of lung cancer: Ⅰ+Ⅱ in 29 patients, 1 year survival rate was 93.1% (27/29) and the 5 year survival rate was 68.9% (20/29);and 11 cases of Ⅲa patients, 1 year survival rate was 90.9% (10/11), the 5 year survival rate was 27.3% (3/11). ConclusionEarly diagnosis, reasonable treatment plan, early surgical treatment is very important in the elderly patients with pulmonary tuberculosis complicated with NSCLC.The postoperative pathological staging for lung cancer of stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ, 5 years survival rate of the patients are satisfactory.关键词
