Prevalence of myopia in primary school students in Tongcheng County, Hubei Province

Abstract
Objective To provide the basis for health care and prevention by investigating Tongcheng County Primary school students of myopia.Methods Take the 2016 year from March to July Tongcheng County 4 primary schools' students in the sample. Each school for each grade selects 2 classes. The total of 1822 pupils were examined for visual acuity test, computer optometry and mydriatic optometry. The prevalence of myopia and related factors were analyzed by chi-square test.Results There were statistically significant differences in defferent grade and age between myopia and non-myopia students. 1822 students were accepted check, the response rate was 98.90％, the total prevalence rate was 15.59％. The prevalence of myopia of male students was 14.24％. The prevalence of myopia of female students was 17.19％. There was no significant difference in male students and female students statistical results of myopia (P> 0.05). The prevalence rates of myopia in grade 1 to grade 6 were 7.14％, 8.39％, 9.60％, 14.66％, 19.75％ and 29.52％. The prevalence of myopia in different grades was statistically significant (P<0.01). The minuent and moderate prevalence of myopia in different age groups was statistically significant (P<0.01).Conclusions There was no significant correlation between myopia and gender. The prevalence of low myopia and moderate myopia increased with age and grade in Primary school stage. And there was no significant correlation between the prevalence of high myopia and age and grade.关键词
