Abstract
This study aimed to study the effects of dietary energy level on ovary development and mRNA expression of follicle stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) and luteinizing hormone/chorionic gonadotropin receptor (LH/CGR) of prepubertal gilts.Twenty-seven crossbred (Landrace×Yorkshire) gilts with the body weight of (61.0±3.1) kg were selected and randomly allocated to 3 groups with 3 replicates each and 3 pigs in each replicate,and were fed diets with different energy levels which were 90%,100% and 110% digestible energy (DE) recommended by NRC (1998),respectively.Gilts in all groups were taken the same average daily feed intake in experimental period,but got different DE.Gilts were slaughtered on the 19th day of the 2nd estrus cycle.The results showed that ovary weight and the number of large follicles were significantly higher in the high energy group than those in the low energy group (P<0.05).Whereas the number of small follicles had no significant difference among the three energy level groups (P>0.05).The high energy group had the highest FSHR and LH/CGR mRNA expression levels,which were significantly higher than those in the low energy group (P<0.05).In conclusion,higher dietary energy level has significant positive effects on ovary development,and promotes the expression of FSHR and LH/CGR in ovary of prepubertal gilts.关键词
