Performance of a trough compound parabolic concentrator for solar water heating system

Abstract
Aiming at improving the utilization of solar water heating system in cold areas, a non-tracking Compound Parabolic Concentrator (CPC) with a concentration rate of 3.9 has been proposed. The concentrator has the characteristics of operating stabilization, no mechanical movement and easy manufacturing. Based on the LightTools optical simulation software, the concentrating performance of this CPC at different incidence angle and deviation angle of the flat-plate receiver were simulated. A test system built in Hohhot at the latitude of 40°50' N to evaluate the characteristics of the device under sunny day and cloudy day. The results indicate that the overall ray's receiving rate of 55.2% is obtained at the incidence angle of 10 ° , the overall ray's receiving rate of 93.4% can be obtained at the deviation angle of 12 ° . On sunny day, the outlet temperature of thermal oil of the device at the title angle of 45 ° is lower than that of the device at the title angle of 55 ° by about 3 ℃. In the cloudy day, the thermal oil temperature curve of the device is steady. Analysis results show that the tracking accuracy required of the concentrator is lower. The CPC is suitable to provide heat energy for building in cold areas.关键词
