Effect of Heavy Load on Friction and Wear Properties of Al-Si-Mg-Cu Alloy Under Different Process Conditions

Abstract
Microstructure, mechanical properties, friction and wear behavior under overload working condition of Al-Si-Mg-Cu alloy prepared by different process were studied by using of OM, SEM and so on. The results show that micro-alloying, refining modification, heat treatment and their compound process had significant influence on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-Si-Mg-Cu alloy. Through the fine grain strengthening, solid solution strengthening and ageing strengthening, the mechanical properties of the alloy were significantly improved and the microstructure uniformity was better. The higher requirements on the wear resistance of Al-Si-Mg-Cu alloy were needed under overload working condition. In the high strength alloy prepared by composite process, the Si phase that distributed on the wear surface was broken to absorb part of the energy produced by the overloaded pressure and then was affected by the plastic flow stress to distribute uniformly on the wear surface. The surface hardness of the alloy and the lubrication conditions had been improved indirectly, which caused the wear surface in the abrasive wear or mild adhesive wear mechanism state for a long time. This situation was helpful to improving the friction and wear behavior of the alloy.关键词
